Walking in the Spirit
Galatians 5:16- .....walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the desires of the sinful nature.
Thomas Chalmers, a Scottish preacher in the 19th century, spoke on 'the expulsive power of a new affection'. This is exactly how Paul describes the victorious Christian life. By walking in the Spirit we find that the desires of the sinful nature no longer have a control over us. How do we walk in the Spirit?
We affirm our position in Christ, that we are hid with Christ in God, that we are children of God, that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin and so much more. We spend time in the Bible and prayer, we worship God regularly as individuals and as a church. We trust the Spirit to develop the fruit of the Spirit in us- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.
That is how we walk in the Spirit!
