The Gospel
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. ~ Romans 1:16 ~
The apostle Paul makes several statements in this passage. First, he is not ashamed of, or embarrassed by the gospel. The word 'gospel' in Greek means good news and was used by the Romans to refer to the birth of Augustus Caesar. It was also used to announce a military victory. Like Paul we should not be ashamed of the gospel because it proclaims our Lord and Saviour, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He has won the greatest victory of all over sin and death, hell and Satan. Christ conquered all when He died for our sins. This opens the door of salvation to anyone who trusts Christ for salvation. Have you trusted Christ to be your Lord and Saviour? If not, why not?
