Our Wonderful Christmas Gift
Heb. 12:1-2 - Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the din that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
John 1:14 - The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The first text from Hebrews tells us that we Christians are in a long-distance race that requires patience or endurance and provides us two motives - those believers who have gone before us, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
The second text from the Gospel of John reveals the two natures of Christ as both God and man. It also describes his glory as full of grace and truth. Grace refers to his kindness and truth refers to his trustworthy character. We all need his grace, "for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God", "for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ". (Romans 3:23, 6:23)
Have you received Christ into your life as your Lord and Saviour? By receiving him you receive the gift of eternal life and are come to know God as your Father.
