Our Response to Jesus Christ
Hebrews 4: 14-16 - Since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
These verses tell us much about our Lord Jesus Christ and our response to Him.
Great high priest refers to His substitutionary sacrifice for our sins on the cross.
Son of God indicates His Godhood.
Gone through the heavens refers to His bodily ascension to His eternal home with the promise of His second coming (Acts 1).
Our response is to hold firmly to our faith (confession) and not give up.
Since He has been tested in every way that we are , but without committing a sin, He can empathize with us.
Our response is to come with confidence before the throne of grace and obtain mercy and grace to help us. And that is good news!
