Our Father
Matthew 6: 9-10 - Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
These two verses from the prayer that the Lord taught his disciples to pray reveals a number of things about God.
If we receive Christ as Lord and Saviour, God becomes our Father forever in heaven. His name is holy and deserves to be treated with respect and honour.
His kingdom will come on earth. Revelation 19 tells us that this will happen when Christ returns with power and glory at the end of the great tribulation. His father has given him the name King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
The fact that these words begin this prayer are an indication of their priority and a reminder to us of our purpose in this life.
