One God
1 Timothy 2:5-6 - For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus; who gave himself as a ransom for all.
John 14:6 - Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me".
The statements above are examples of the exclusive claim about the Lord Jesus Christ and by him; telling us how to be reconciled to God the Father. Our sin separates us from God. We fail to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, and to love our neighbours as ourselves. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Christ is the judge of the universe. He came down from his throne to die for our sins; to make atonement for our
failure. All this was prophesied and recorded in the Old Testament centuries before Christ came into the world. For example, Isaiah 53:6 says, "all we like sheep have gone astray..........and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all". The same chapter also predicted that he would be assigned a grave with the wicked as a criminal, but he would instead be buried in a rich man's tomb (verse 9). Matthew writes that a rich man from Arimathea, a secret disciple, placed Jesus' body in his own new tomb. Isaiah also tells us that God will prolong his days (verse 10)- a reference to Christ's resurrection.
Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
