A Choice and a Promise
Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.
This verse tells us of two contrasting destinations for human beings. Note the opposites used in this passage: wages vs. gift, sin vs. God, death vs. eternal life.Wages are what we deserve or earn. Sin is failure to keep God's law. Jesus said that the law and the prophets are summed up in two great commands, " You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and you shall love your neighbour as yourself". Not keeping these commands is sin and the "wages" are eternal separation from God in a place of fire and outer darkness. Eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ is not a wage but a gift of God, which is ours when we receive Him into our life by faith. He died for our sins on the cross, was buried and rose from the dead on the third day. This fulfilled prophecy in the Old Testament and the evidence for His life, death and resurrection is overwhelming.
If you have not received Christ into your heart, why delay? Confess your sin to Him and welcome Him into your life as your Saviour and Lord. He won't turn you away.
